Mobile Storage Membership is for those that currently own or operate a business which provides mobile storage.

The Self Storage Association of Australasia was founded in 1990 by a small group of facility operators interested in fostering the development of the self storage industry on a sound ethical and professional basis. It has now grown into a strong and professional industry body representing over 850 members across Australia and New Zealand.

The SSAA provides members a wide range of diverse business tools that are relevant to the self storage industry. This helps members achieve their business goals and assists the profitability of their businesses.

SSAA members keep up-to-date with current industry activities and events through industry specific publications, an annual convention, member communications, seminars, training, educational and informative materials for self storage owners, operators, managers, staff and suppliers.

Self Storage Agreements

Standard, Managed and Mobile Self Storage Agreements have been drafted by the Association’s legal advisors to assist in protecting operators from liability in relation to customers and/or customer’s goods in storage. These agreements are regularly reviewed to reflect legislative changes that impact contractual clauses. These agreement are made available to you as a member for your protection and to increase the credibility of the industry.

Manual of Advice and Procedures

This supports the Standard, Managed and Mobile Self Storage Agreements offered as part of your membership. It details guidelines for industry best practice. It also provides comprehensive guidance on what to do when common industry issues arise.

Legal Helpline

The SSAA provides members with convenient, complimentary access to our legal advisors for queries relating to the manual of advice and procedures, self storage agreements and legal training. Our legal team are specialists in self storage industry legal matters and are equipped with widespread and in-depth legal knowledge on self storage matters across Australia and New Zealand.

Industry Magazine – the ‘Insider’

The Insider is an informative industry specific magazine that is published bi-monthly. It provides coverage of industry issues, events, advice and news. There is also ample opportunity for members to promote their business and achievements in the Insider with advertising exclusive to SSAA members.


The SSAA offers training sessions and workshops on topics related to the self storage industry to enable learning, skills development and business profitability such as - operations, legal and sales.

Annual Conventions & Trade Shows

These are invaluable events within the self storage industry. Meetings of members are regularly held across Australia and New Zealand in a premier venue with dinner and drinks. They are an informal opportunity for discussion of local issues amongst industry colleagues in a social setting. Code of Ethics

Members are required to adhere to an industry Code of Ethics so as to engender greater confidence from the general public regarding the industry and SSAA Service and Facility Members who operate in it.

SSAA Certificate and Logo

All members are provided with a Membership Certificate and door/window decal to display at their business site and have the right to display the SSAA logo on their website or printed materials, to identify their membership with the SSAA and their commitment to industry best practice.

USA, UK and European Affiliation

The SSAA is affiliated with the Self Storage Associations in the USA, UK, Europe and Asia. SSAA members are able to participate in all of their conventions and trade events.
