The Self Storage Association of Australasia is a group of self storage facility owners, managers and suppliers interested in fostering the development of the self storage industry on a sound ethical and professional basis.

Provisional membership has become an asset assisting those people and businesses looking at entering the industry through development or purchase of a self storage business.  The Self Storage Association of Australasia believes these people should be provided with as much industry information as possible to ensure that their business has the most chance of success, which also benefits the industry as a whole.  Members are able to pool their resources to increase public awareness, enhance their image and stimulate overall demand for the industry.

SSAA members keep abreast of current industry activities and events through a regular journal, annual convention, public communications, seminars, training and educational and informative materials for self storage owners, operators, business managers and suppliers

Benchmarking

A totally independent academic institution conducts a regular quantitative assessment to enable participants to identify their strengths and weaknesses and to establish industry bench marks against which to measure performance.  This is published in an annual Almanac provided free of charge to all members.

The Association also develops a demand study every two years, the current edition being 2008.  This study analyses the customer base of the industry, their buying preferences, demographics, perception of the industry and even more.  This document is essential for anyone developing or growing a self storage business.

Annual Convention & Trade Show

This is the premier event for the industry and is held at various locations around Australia and New Zealand.  It allows members to hear from relevant industry and non-industry speakers, and talk with local and overseas suppliers about the latest ideas, products and services for the self-storage industry.  Click here for more details on this years convention.

Magazine

The Insider magazine is published six times a year and provides coverage of industry issues, events, trends, news, advice and educational material from Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the world.

Regional Meetings

Meetings of members are regularly held in New Zealand, Asia and each Australian state, with informative speakers and trainers who provide useful information to help members reduce costs and increase facility income.  They also provide a forum for local issues as well as grass roots discussion with colleagues.  As well as access to other services such as:
