Facility of the Year

This award is open to all members of the SSAA who owned and/or operated the facility being entered for the qualifying period. Regional facility of the year entrants are also included in this category automatically.

Regional Facility of the Year

This award is open to all members of the SSAA who owned and/or operated the facility being entered for the qualifying period. The facility can not be located within 10 minutes drive of a town or regional district with a population of more than 100,000. The judges decision will be final as to eligibility for this award. If you have any queries about your eligibility please contact the SSAA prior to completing your entry and a ruling on eligibility will be made. All entries in this award category are automatically also entered into the facility of the year award.


Manager of the Year
Sponsored by Steel Storage
This award is open to all facility Managers an SSAA member facility. The Manager must not have a significant financial interest in the ownership of the property or the business. The judges will be scoring each Manager’s performance, management prowess and innovation throughout 2010/11. Therefore, the nominee must have managed the facility throughout the entire 2009/10 financial year.

Best Upgrade / Expansion

This award is open to all SSAA members who either started or completed an upgrade or extension to their facility in the 2009 calendar year.

Innovation Award

Designed to recognise and reward innovation that will benefit the self storage industry or our customers. Award nominees must be members of the SSAA. An “innovation” is defined as any service, facility, product or process that improves service or business management. The main criterion is that the entry is innovative to the industry and provides benefit. Innovations available in overseas industries will be considered if they have been adapted in some way to suit the Australasian self storage industry and the nominating SSAA member has been involved in that adaptation.
