The SSAA has collaborated with specialist human resources consultancy firm HR Central to provide a dedicated human resources (HR) support channel for SSAA members in Australia. The SSAA has committed to this to provide additional support and value to its members.
Human resources legislation and management can be complex and time consuming to business owners, who may have little or no HR knowledge or support in their organisation. With direct access to HR Central, members can phone or contact a specialist in HR who will provide them with solutions to their questions and concerns.
The system is straightforward — members can simply call 1300 01 SSAA (1300 017 722), a direct line to a HR Central HR specialist. The service is available on weekdays from 9:00am to 5:30pm AEST. After providing their membership number, name and company name (with contact details), SSAA members can discuss their HR question or concern with the HR specialist.
This call is free to SSAA members and is completely confidential. The HR specialist will endeavour to resolve and provide an immediate solution, but in some cases the issue may require further work by the HR specialist. In this instance, the HR specialist will discuss with the member the option of further work and the cost to the member if they agree. It is up to the member to decide if they wish to continue.
The SSAA Help Desk is available only to facility owners or their authorised contact. Members who do not wish to participate in the service can elect to “opt out” by contacting the SSAA Membership Officer email@example.com.
HR Central and SSAA have liaised about the specific kinds of issues that are relevant to SSAA members. The major subjects covered by HR Central in the Help Desk will cover managing, paying and exiting staff and HR documentation such as position descriptions. Position descriptions and award summaries specific to the self-storage industry have been completed and are available to members, alongside other templates and checklists. HR Central is experienced in all facets of HR and members’ issues covering the complete employment cycle can be discussed.
HR Central provides HR solutions to small and medium sized businesses in any industry in Australia. The company was started to fill a gap in the provision of services to small and medium businesses with no HR person or employees acting in an HR role, often without HR training or experience. Stricter HR laws and growing employer obligations increased the risk to a business, along with record keeping and administration overheads.
HR Central offers both consulting services and HR software to ensure all HR requirements can be met. Its head office is located in Melbourne, and its staff consist of IT developers and HR specialists.
